Kansas Jayhawks - The Kansas Jayhawks lost Julian Wright early to the NBA draft, but Kansas is still the clear favorite to win its sixth Big 12 men’s basketball title in seven years. Last year the Jayhawks were lucky enough to reach the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, and this season Kansas coach Bill Self hopes to make that final push to the Final Four. There’s no reason why they shouldn't make an NCAA championship bid this season as long as they keep a healthy line up. The Jayhawks return four starters from last year’s 33-5 Big 12 championship team and they have a very impressive and deep bench for 2008. Expect to see Kansas be a dominating force that more often than not will cover the early season spreads in conference match ups.

Texas Longhorns - It is safe to say Kevin Durant was on of the best players in the history of the Big 12. But even though Durant made the jump to NBA action after his stellar freshman year, the Longhorns are not going to fall apart. Point guard D.J. Augustin and shooting guard A.J. Abrams will be one of the best guard duos in college basketball this season. Both players have an amazing game from 3-point range, with Augustin nailing 44.1 percent last year and Abrams 42.3 percent from beyond the arc. Texas coach Rick Barnes will need to see better defense this season after the Longhorns gave up 72.2 points per game last season.

Oklahoma Sooners - Oklahoma takes the cake for the #1 disappointment of 2007 after the outlook for a post season appearance looked strong, they decided to drop seven of their last eight games. One of the major issues Oklahoma suffered from was a lack of offense, but coach Jeff Capel believes that problem will be resolved in 2008 with the addition of McDonald’s All-America forward Blake Griffin and guards Cade Davis and Omar Leary. Griffin, a transfer student from Oklahoma Christian should be a strong offensive force after averaging 26.8 points and 15.1 rebounds at Oklahoma Christian.

Texas A&M Aggies - Billy Gillispie brought the A&M basketball program to new heights with two NCAA Tournament appearances in his three seasons before moving to a coaching position at Kentucky. He left a stacked offensive power house for 2008 with Senior forward Joseph Jones, one of the best big men in the league, and Dominique Kirk the veteran guard. The Aggies also have Josh Carter, the 3-point specialist, who dropped 50 percent beyond the arc and averaged 11.8 points. It will be impossible to replace the All-America guard Acie Law, but sophomore sensation Donald Sloan should do a mediocre job directing the team.
