Baseball Picks
The baseball season is underway and it has been an exciting one. I think the team taking the cake for biggest disappointment has been the Detroit Tigers, although I do not believe this team will stay sluggish for long. One of the biggest shockers has been the play coming out of the National League. There are teams that have had garbage programs for years putting up decent numbers. This biggest shockers right now are are coming in the NL Central with St Louis, who did NOTHING last season, The Chicago Cubs who are always a surprise to see winning, and the Milwaukee "Brew Crew" Brewers who are currently sitting in the number two spot. Pretty fitting for a team that will probably turn to number two by the midway point of the season.
There are more disappointments coming out of the American League East with the Yankee's coming in dead last and Devil Rays who made some great moves off season yet sit at a .500 record. Still it is hard to get over the Detroit Tigers as the worst team in baseball right now. In fact there is not another team with a record as bad as the Tigers, and no other team is as far behind in their respective divisions as the Tigers are right now. It is pathetic considering the line up the Tigers have with Rodriguez, Cabrera, Guillen and Sheffield. I think once Dontrelle Willis makes it back in the rotation the Tigers will turn the game around, also it only takes one match up for the Tigers to tee off on a lousy pitcher before things start heating up. It is early in the season, but I will still go out on a limb and say you will see Detroit playing in October. The Royals, Twins and Indians all have a tendency to choke late in the year. (Well, with the exception of the Royals who typically have been known to choke all season long.)
Sit them up and knock them down Detroit, I think you have a chance! In American League play the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels made all the right baseball off season picks and they should be able to win their divisions. In the National League it is hard not to like Arizona but I think the Cardinals, Padres and Phillies will all take the gold this year.
