April 5th - April 8th 2008 Basketball Picks

6* System Play on Utah Jazz +4 -110 (April 8th 2008)
The Jazz always step up to good competition especially late in the season. Utah is 14-2 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record during the 2nd half of the season this year. UTAH is 14-4 ATS revenging a same season loss vs opponent this season and 18-5 ATS revenging a road loss vs opponent of 10 points or more over the last 2 seasons. The Jazz should win this game straight up, but if nothing else this one will come down to the wire.

7* LOCK on Kansas Jayhawks +2 -110 (April 7th 2008)
With a line set as low as this one the two points don't really mean a whole lot in this match up. No one is really taking Kansas on the assumption they are going to lose but by less than two points. The way these two teams match up is very close with both teams having strong players at the guard position. This is a game tha will be won by Kansas puting the ball down low for easy buckets. The Jayhawks should win this game by 5-7 points.

6* System Play on New Orleans Hornets -6 -110 (April 6th 2008)
It is always smart to play on Home teams like New Orleans after 3 or more consecutive wins, in a game involving two good teams winning between 60% to 75% of their games. This system is 69-37 ATS over the last 5 seasons. Golden State is 17-29 ATS after playing a game as favorite this season. New Orleans is 14-3 ATS revenging a loss where opponent scored 100 or more points this season. I expect to see a blowout victory for this home team.

6* System Play on Memphis -2 -110 (April 5th 2008)
It is always best to Play On a teams where the line is +3 to -3 like Memphis when they are an explosive offensive team averaging greater than 78 PPG and facing off against an average offensive team averaging 67-74 PPG, after leading their last 2 games by 10+ points at the half. This system is 47-23 ATS since 1997. Many people have Memphis as being the first 1 seed to drop out of the tourney and even more people have UCLA going down to North Carolina in the championship. If you believe the public doesn't win on average with their sports bets then tis just screams to play on Memphis. It would seem they should be coming into the tourney as a dog yet hey are a two point favorite. My money is on Memphis along with the rest of the sharp players.

7* LOCK on Kansas/North Carolina UNDER 160 -110 (April 5th 2008)
Most people would think with two high powered offenses like these teams have we would jump on the OVER. However, when taking a closer look at how these teams match up I predict his game will stay well under the posted total. KANSAS is 11-1 UNDER when playing with 5 or 6 days rest over the last 3 seasons. The Jayhawks allow a mere 60 points per game while averaging right at 80. For this game to go over the posted toal Kansas would have to allow 20+ points than their season average AND score more points than their average against one of the best teams in the nation. Same goes for North Carolina although not many more points would need to be scored or allowed. The averages just don't match up and neither to the player vs player match ups. This game will probably stay under 150 total points.
