NCAA Tournament Final Four Picks
Written April 3, 2009 by Nick Jones
We are down to the final four teams in the NCAA tournament and I am happy to announce that in most of the NCAA tournament brackets that were completed NickJonesPicks.com has picked three of the final four teams remaining. Now, if Michigan State and North Carolina make the championship game it is winner city for most leagues and office pools that were participated in.
The easiest of these two match ups will be a victory for North Carolina over Villanova. This is because Ty Lawson is healthy and the fact that the Carolina bench is so deep. The way these teams match up should make for a major blowout for NC. With a struggling economy, the NCAA tournament has proved to be an exciting and relaxing getaway from all the negative news. Watching the Tarheels throw a beating on Villanova will be a step below the peak for everything that is exciting about college basketball picks.
The match up that could tarnish the bracket comes with UConn facing Michigan State. The Spartans played a phenomenal season overall and in Big 10 play and they have the team that could get an upset over Connecticut. Put aside everything these teams did all season and look strictly at NCAA tournament play and again Michigan State gets the edge over UConn. The Spartans beat some very quality teams with USC, Kansas and Louisville. USC was seeded in the 10th position but they could have easily beating most 4 and 5 seed teams in the tourney. Kansas, the defending champs took a beating from Michigan State in what was only a 5 point win, but in the end was not as close as the score made it seem. Then Michigan State took down the top rated team in the entire tournament when they beat Louisville by 12 points. UConn on the other hand had it easy beating a weak Texas A&M team and beating Missouri by 7. The Tigers come out of a very weak Big 12 so a 7 point win does not speak highly for UConn. Their most impressive win came over the second best team in the Big 10 when they beat a red hot Purdue team. UConn looked very worn down in their match up against Missouri and if they keep up that pace Michigan State will probably blow them out.
Regardless of who wins between UConn and Michigan State, the tournament champion could already be crowned with North Carolina. I said it before the season started and I have said it all season long even when they did lose a few games, but North Carolina is the best team college basketball has seen in a very long time. My prediction is a tough win for Michigan State and then a big low scoring loss for the Spartans in the championship game against North Carolina.
Got something to say?
