March Madness Futures

So we are a little over midway through the College Basketball season and it is becoming apparently obvious who the top contenders will be this season. Without a doubt the serious contenders as going to be Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina and Connecticut. A name could also be made for Oklahoma and Pittsburgh. The bottom line is, the way this season has been shaping up, this truly could be one of the most exciting March Madness Tournaments in the past several years.
The books have set the futures and it is obvious that the most value is coming with Wake Forest at 12/1 according to BodogLife Sportsbook. Wake Forest is a team that has had no problem getting big wins when it counts against some of the nation’s top rated teams including an upset over #1 ranked Duke this week.
The second greatest value is a split between three teams. Oklahoma who also comes in at 12/1 odds has not shown the same spark that Wake Forest has. Pittsburgh comes in as at 8/1 while Connecticut as a 7/1 odds in which both have failed to show they have the magic stuff to win the big games over good teams.
Given the fact that there are no more undefeated teams left this season and there are several one and two loss teams in the top 25 it is anyone’s season to win. The fact is, if you can get teams like Wake Forest at 12/1 then it is worth the chance to make a play. The last two favorites would be, of course, North Carolina at 5/2 and Duke at 5/3 odds. Since there is a good chance these teams could be beat by any of the above mentioned teams you get little reward for the risk when making a move on these two Carolina power house teams. However, I will say the preseason favorite and still my personal favorite to walk through the Tournament with ease would be the Carolina Tar Heels. They have looked strong all season long but did have a couple of let down games that probably plays into their favor in the long run. The fact that they have gotten these losses out of the way means they are humbled. You can bet they will not overlook anyone when it counts come March. My personal belief is that North Carolina can get the worst seat on the bracket and they will still win hands down every game throughout the tournament.
