First you have to start things off with the North Carolina Tarheels. The Heels are number one in two out of three polls and are lead by the Junior veteran leader Tyler Hansbrough. Not only are the Tarheels a contender for the ACC title year after year, they are in strong contention to take another NCAA tournament championship. The starting line up alone has more talent than any other team in college basketball today, hands down. On top of that they are lead by a veteran coach in Roy Williams and a bench that has future NBA players keeping the seats warm. My numbers have the ACC with a 50% chance of taking the championship for 2008 and a 75% chance it will be North Carolina bringing home the gold.

Speaking of the ACC taking the cake this season lets talk about the other ACC team that has a chance to bring home a national title. Without typing it out, you guessed it, the Duke Bluedevils. Duke is another team that regardless of record, come tournament time, must be considered a serious contender. This years roster at Duke features a pack of leaders and a 15-0 home record coming into the ACC championship game tells me this team is hungry for success. While I am not a fan of Duke and Coach Krzyzewski, keeping personal bias aside, I can say Duke has probably the best chance of any team making a #1 spot to go the distance. Expect some big blowouts from Duke early on and depending on seating it could be a walk into the Elite Eight at a minimum.

Next up is my sleeper team for the 2008 Bracket Challenge. The Wisconsin Badgers.... Are you done laughing? I despise the Big 10 when it comes to national championship potential because it seems that choking is not limited to the football field. Many hard fought battles were notched on the belt of this Wisconsin Team this season which only adds to the character and strength of a very dangerous team. Four seniors lead the way on a team that has posted a 99-31 regular season record over the past four seasons and what better way to go out for a senior team than taking home a national championship trophy. Is it unlikely the Badgers will win? Anyone could argue 100 reasons why each team is going to win or lose but the facts are the top 64 teams in the nation make the NCAA tournament and it boils down to who has the heart and character it takes to win. No one can argue against senior leadership like the Wisconsin Badgers have.

Last but certainly not least is a team that has had many ups and downs in the polls and comes to the end of the regular season ranking 2nd in the AP poll and 3rd in both the RPI and USA today top 25. Yes it is the Memphis Tigers. Not to often to we get to boast about a Conference USA team but this year it is time to shine. Coming out of conference USA is the biggest downfall for the Tigers. A lack of real competition in conference play does not prepare a team the way it should for March Madness Tournament time. Another area the Tigers are lacking in is a strong post presence. It will be tough to out rebound and out play the remaining top 63 teams in the nation with such a weak game underneath, but if any team can win without a big man its Memphis. This is a team with so much talent it is scary. Imagine this Memphis team in the ACC and turning in the kind of season they have thus far. We would close the arena early and cut straight to the Trophy presentation.
